Why we don't service regular bikes

Well just like regular bike shops don't service electric bikes, we choose intentionally not to service regular (non electric) bikes.

Why ?

1. Regular bikes are not our business, and not our preferred area of expertise: ELECTRIC Bikes are our expertise.

2. We don't have time to service your regular bike. That's right. We are too busy selling electric bikes, and taking care of our electric bike customers.

3. Regular bikes today can often be cheaply made, not all are easily serviced. Unless a shop is dedicated to servicing many brands, and carrying those brand specific parts, it can be more costly in terms of overhead to service regular bikes. We choose specifically to service e-bikes that we carry, so we can invest prudently in parts and service for the ebike consumer.

4. Labor costs in the US are at least 20 times higher than China. This means a regular bike made in China, cannot be repaired for anything close to what it cost to make the bike in the first place. You wouldn't be willing to pay for the ture labor costs for repair, if you weren't willing to buy a bike that had been made in the US. Bike shops are losing money on service, and repairs, and have been going out of business quite rapidly. They can't charge prices that are high enough, that people are willing to pay, since perceptions have been warped by the 'global economy.' If bikes are being made at $2/hour but the country they are being sent to has fully burdened costs in excess of $35/hour (before any profit), then longer term people will simply either go out of business trying to serve that market, or those bikes will cease to exist since no one is there to maintain them, unless the owner knows how to repair one themselves. Fact: Since the year 2000, there are less than half the number of bike shops that existed back then here in the US. Fact: 97% of all regular bikes are made in China. Again, their labor cost is around $2/hour US equivalent. Here in the US, its at least $35/hour.

5. Eventually, we feel, most everyone will choose an ebike over a regular bike, as the benefits are overwhelming, and regular bikes just are not ridden as much as they used to be, by the people who currently own them.

So the question really is not why don't we service regular bikes, but why don't you own an electric bike ?
